Immigration and Relocation Services in Malmö
Our office is at Amiralsgatan 86E in Malmö, and Malmö is not a generic Swedish relocation. It sits twenty minutes from Copenhagen across the Öresund bridge, which makes it the one Swedish city where a large share of arrivals are working in a different country from the one they live in. That single fact changes the tax position, the social security position and often the correct immigration instrument.
Living in Malmö, working in Denmark
Cross-border commuters face questions that do not arise anywhere else in Sweden: which country you pay tax in, which country’s social insurance covers you, what happens to your pension contributions, and whether working partly from home in Sweden changes any of it. These are not immigration questions strictly speaking, but they determine whether a move works, and they are best answered before the move rather than at the first tax return.

Housing in Malmö
The municipal rental queue for the Malmö region is Boplats Syd. Register on arrival, or before it if you can, because queue time is the currency and it only accrues while you are registered. First-hand contracts generally require a personal identity number, documented income and a local reference before they require money, which is why so many arrivals end up in second-hand sublets for the first year. Getting registered
The personal identity number comes from Skatteverket, not from the Migration Agency, and it is what unlocks banking, BankID, healthcare, housing and school places. Registration normally requires an intention to stay at least a year. EU and EEA citizens register directly; everyone else registers once a permit is granted. See personnummer in Sweden.
